  13.  !!!README NOW!!! the old NewHomer_DATA.lha archive had a bad config file...
  14.  it was stated into it that it was not complete, but maybe many didn't read!!!
  15.  Now I've put a better .conf file (it was already there to be honest, but the
  16.  installer didn't care about it) and set the installer to replace it.

  18.  NewHomer - this is almost like the old Homer1.5/1.6 found on Aminet... but it
  19.             has some more options and is totally RTG friendly (the old one had
  20.             a bad zoom routine on truecolor screens).

  22.  BRIEF INTRODUCTION: In case you didn't ever seen original Homer, this is a
  23.                      program that shows you an animation of Homer Simpson,
  24.                      that can talk, burp (ops! :)) and will change its mood
  25.                      while following the mouse pointer with his eyes.
  26.  
  27.  REQUIREMENTS: you could install it over the previous Homer installation if
  28.                you already used it. But someone reported to have troubles this
  29.                way, I suggest to download the file "NewHomer_DATA.lha" that
  30.                contains a good set of samples from the american version and
  31.                then install from scratch. If you already had a BIG list of
  32.                sample you used together with old Homer (maybe they are almost
  33.                the same of that collection) I suggest you to cut+paste the
  34.                names from the old config file into the new one (see docs).

  36.                Os V37 at least is required (v36 has too many bugs). I don't
  37.                know if datatypes work under V37, so maybe the minimum sugge-
  38.                sted is v38 (again do they exist under this version?? :)

  40.                titlebar.image by Massimo Tantignone is NO LONGER REQUIRED
  41.                (thanks to Massimo ;)). Homer will use it if found, though!

  43.                Then you will require ONE sound.datatype and ONE picture.datatype:
  44.                I suggest you to have at least WAVE, 8SVX and ILBM ones, if you
  45.                don't have these, you can't use Homer... or you can convert the
  46.                sound and gfx samples to the datatype you have. ;)
  47.                The file HomerAnim.gif included in the archive is an IFF image
  48.                despite its name... Oh, we're still on Amiga and no lame forced
  49.                extension file-type recognition system... :))
  50.  
  51.                NewHomerITA_DATA.lha is an italian version of the samples, but
  52.                requires the v41wave datatype, or a wave dt that can play 16bit
  53.                ADPCM wave samples (I think there's ONLY that datatype to play
  54.                such samples on Amiga).

  56.  INSTALLATION: double click on the provided installer icon, or just copy the
  57.                content of this archive over the old Homer directory.
  58.                Then you can edit (if you want) the NewHomer.conf file (see doc.)
  59.                to add your own samples to the program. After doing this you _CAN_
  60.                delete the following files from the old Homer archive:

  62.                Homer        - Main program
  63.                homer/libs/ (or LIBS:) - matrix.library and swazconfig.library
  64.                               unless some other program uses them...

  66.                If you don't have Homer installed, or you don't want to loose time
  67.                editing this file, then you can download my own data file (config +
  68.                samples + iff picture) on Aminet and copy its content to the same
  69.                directory.

  71.  VARIOUS:      see the included documentation inside for all the rest!

  73.  BUGS:         required cgx.library even if it didn't used it at all. This
  74.  (update)      prevented NewHomer from working on ECS/AGA only systems.
  75.                Also, long paths deeper than two directories didn't work with the
  76.                PROGDIR: tooltype. Now it has been fixed.

  83.  INTRODUZIONE:  NewHomer è un programma quasi identico al vecchio Homer che si
  84.                 trova su Aminet, ma con molte aggiunte ed una migliore compati-
  85.                 bilità con gli schermi truecolor e il cybergraphics.

  87.                 Per chi non ne avesse mai sentito parlare, questo programma
  88.                 mostra un animazione di Homer che di tanto in tanto parla, cam-
  89.                 bia umore e segue con gli occhi il mouse (e fa pure qualche rut-
  90.                 to :))

  92.   RICHIESTE     Serve un set di sample, si può usare quello dato col vecchio
  93.   DI SISTEMA:   Homer se lo avevate già. Altrimenti occorre scaricare il file
  94.                 NewHomer_DATA.lha (contiene sample dalla versione americana dei
  95.                 Simpson) oppure NewHomerITA_DA.lha (contiene sample dalla versione
  96.                 italiana... conviene scaricarsi quello se state leggendo queste
  97.                 righe, mi sa, purtroppo sono 4.8 mega, beh su Aminet si può fare
  98.                 il resume apposta! ;)

  100.                 Dopodiché servono: un datatype WAVE per ascoltare i sample (uno
  101.                 qualunque per la versione americana dei sample, il V41 WAVE.DT
  102.                 per quella italiana, lo si trova su aminet util/dtype/wavdt41.lha
  103.                 e util/dtype/sounddt41.lha) un datatype ILBM (ma questo lo dava
  104.                 la Commodore insieme all'Amiga, stranamente...).
  105.  
  106.                 La "tbi.class" non è più richiesta, ma se è presente al momento
  107.                 dell'avvio (è il caso di chi usa VisualPrefs) verrà usata ren-
  108.                 dendo il look della finestra + piacevole.

  110.   BUGS:         sembrano essere stati quasi tutti rimossi, se ne trovate ancora
  111.                 (spero proprio di no!! =) fatemelo sapere per favore!

  113.   AGGIUNTE:     testo in italiano anche per il file guida... non proprio una ag-
  114.                 giunta al programma, ma può servire a qualcuno :)
